Why this experience matters
Every viewpoint in Zhangjiajie shows you a piece of the landscape. A helicopter shows you the whole thing. From above, the thousands of quartz-sandstone pillars look like a stone forest rising from green valleys, and the scale becomes real for the first time.

Book in advance
Helicopters have limited seats and weather cancels flights. Book early and keep a flexible schedule.
Camera without lens cap
You can take photos, but loose items must be secured. Sunglasses are useful for glare.
Small groups
Most helicopters seat 3–5 passengers. Private charters are available for a premium.
Health note
Pregnant travelers, very young children, and people with severe motion sickness should check with the operator.
Combine with a park day
The helipad is usually near Wulingyuan. Pair the morning flight with an afternoon in the park.
